Office Updates, Some Drama and Our Journey Continues
A few months ago, I shared with you all that we had a major change in our life that put the pressure on for us to finish our office.
When I shared the finished office / craft space / homework space / hangout space – I had grand plans.
This one relatively small room was expected to accomplish a lot – and it has.
Our kids really do their homework and craft at this desk. In fact, I spent quite a lot of time cleaning stubborn glitter from Valentine cards that were made.
And we have had two new additions – amazing new chairs found at Homegoods on the same day that “the one got away”. They are super comfortable and pretty too!

Hello all, stopping in quickly on a Saturday!
I have had a few requests to give the list of the categories that I went about organizing craft supplies in our craft room.

The Craft Room and Home Office Are Done!
Ikea Hack Craft Table (& Craft Paint Storage!)

When we started out reworking our office space to also be a crafting space, I knew I wanted a craft table to work at.
I already had an Ikea tabletop that I had been using as my desk, so I decided it was the perfect project for an Ikea hack craft table.

We have a limited floor plan for the amount of things I wanted to use this space for, but I had planned it out so that this table would fit in this corner by the railing. This area is open to the family room and kitchen below.
8 Tips for Organizing Craft Supplies

So, for a while now we have been getting turning our loft space into our home office / craft room / homework space / hangout area. Now, this is not a huge room, so this has been a lofty goal from the beginning. I wanted to find every way possible to maximize space.
I also wanted to make sure that for once, I had a space for organizing craft supplies.
My starting point was this cabinet found at a local vintage shop.

This cabinet gave me a run for my money. It must have had a former life in a kitchen where there was a lot of fried foods prepared. I spent hours peeling off layers of gunk. In the end, it completely rejected primer and I knew I had to turn to chalk paint.
I used Annie Sloan bright white on the outside. In hindsight, I should have considered a darker color because there was some bleed through still – but I really wanted this cabinet to be white so I am good with it.
Home Office / Craft Room Progress
I thought I would update you today on the stalling progress of our home office / craft room. We went fast and furious for a bit, and now things have slowed. And, as tends to happen, I have had focusing issues and started several other projects in the interim.
But there is enough accomplished to share at this point.
The goal is to go full force now since BOTH of us will be working in here full time now and the kids are home for summer.
Since I do not feel the need to show once again the chaos that was the room before, I will start with the room cleared out and the boring beige paint color. Don’t get me wrong, beige is great in some rooms. But this room needed to be bright and white.
Sharpie Art Coffee Table
So, things have stalled a bit in our office. End of school and life changes have kept us pretty busy these days. But that is okay, this week we are going full steam ahead!
In the meantime, I am still enjoying the one corner of our office we have had a chance to complete. Our gallery wall is bright and colorful and the sofa is a cozy place to hang out. And today, I wanted to share our Sharpie Art Coffee Table.
To start with, I found this table in the "as-is" section of a home decor store. She was sad and lonely table with no legs.
I quickly scooped her up and knew right away what I would do with her.
