Spring Mantel Decorating Ideas & Dreaming
I am a dreamer. A planner. A list maker.
I keep putting myself out there, keep trying, sometimes, some might say, to a fault.
But it is just the way I am wired.
Sometimes, dreams come true.
And sometimes, actually often, we face disappointment and are let down.
No matter how bad you want it, you are let down. And, at first it seems overwhelming.
But with time and perspective, you realize there were reasons for each part of your journey and where you are being pointed towards.
Kitchen Decorating Ideas: DIY Butcher Sign Tea Towel
Disclosure: This project was completed as part of my partnership with Command Brand. However, all opinions and ideas are my own.
Hello friends, I hope this day finds you well and the sun shining. And if it is not shining, I hope you are at least smiling.
I am smiling as I write this post because this little spot in my kitchen is so me – and I love how it came out. And it all started with a DIY tea towel that lead to a little bit of kitchen decorating.

Decorating Ideas: Telling Your Home’s Story
But do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by all the “inspiration” and ideas?
I know I do.
I see something I love – but then I realize it wouldn’t really work in my home.
But then, I find something else new and I figure out that it would be a nice change and a new way to stay true to my own style.
Sometimes we need to shake things up.

Decorating Ideas: Vintage Decorating
Hello sweet friends.
I have spent the last few days knee deep in my vintage hoarding collection. When it comes to decorating, there is nothing I love more than vintage treasures.
I have been sorting, cleaning, packing and shipping some of my very best treasures. Next week, I am teaming up with my sweet pals KariAnne and Heather, and we are headed to Chapel Market!
If you are anywhere near Pike Road, Alabama – stop on by to see us. You can find all of the amazing details here.
Here is a sneak peek of what I sent out this afternoon.
The Story of a Coffee Table & Working With What You Have
Last night, I was cleaning my office. There was a piece of glass that used to be on my coffee table that I had been using in the office. I no longer needed it in the office, so I brought it back downstairs.
As I was carrying it, I realized how heavy it was and it brought me back to such a strong memory that I thought I would share with you today.
When Dana and I first moved to NY, the company he worked for put us up in an apartment for 3 months. At the end of the three months, we still had not found a house, so we were on our own. We found a very small, unfurnished apartment in a nice town nearby.
It was two rooms, a kitchen and a very small bathroom. We didn’t think we would be there very long, so we were not too concerned.
All of our furniture was in storage, so we loaded our clothes in the one room and headed out to buy a new mattress. Then we headed to Goodwill and bought two plates, two bowls, two sets of silverware and drinking cups.
My Dad loaned us a TV and my stepmother loaned us her mother’s coffee table.
We set up the TV on the coffee table and the bed became our couch, office and sleeping zone.
That apartment, with all of its issues is where we spent the first two trimesters of my pregnancy with Sunshine and where we made the decision to build instead of buy a house.
We ended up living there for 8 months.
REVISITED: Decorating With Quilts
When it gets right down to it, I am a traditional girl when it comes to my decor.
But, nothing makes me happier when a traditional and time proven style or item is updated or used in a new way. There are certain things that will always be timeless and classic, but are always ready for an update.
I think a perfect example of that is with quilts.
Quilts are not just for your grandmother. They have taken on modern lines and are being used in a whole new way. So today I am sharing some inspiring ways to bring quilts back into our homes.
Now, my quilt collection is filled with worn, tattered and simple quilts, perfect to wrap up in on the screened porch.
But I am always on the hunt for that perfect (and affordable) quilt to bring inside. There are so many ways to use quilts in our homes.
