It is that time again,
10 Minute Ideas, and this time it is for the holidays. I know I jumped ahead over Thanksgiving, but I figured you likely already have Thanksgiving figured out and you could start gathering supplies for your Christmas table. What is more fun than creating a snow globe village centerpiece? It is perfect leading up to the holidays, only takes about 10 minutes and can easily be left in place and set for holiday meals.
My village started with a pickle jar. Yup, it started with a pickle jar. Actually a friend who's mom gave her several pickle jars because she didn't know what to do with them. Then she decided if anyone knew what to do with a giant pickle jar, it would be me. I love my reputation.
To get started you need a tray, box, container of some sort. I used this vintage herb crate that I found at a yard sale years ago and I love. Line the bottom with sheets of felt-like snow. Gather up your jars. I used one giant pickle jar and a vintage jar, but almost anything would work including mason jars. Simply fill the bottom with loose fake snow and place in a cardboard Christmas house. Mine are ornaments. The pickle jar opening wasn't large enough for the house to fit in with the base, so I just tore the base off so that it would fit. I dropped in some bottle brush trees and candy canes and placed the jars in the wood tray. I had additional house, but it was too large for a jar so I just placed right in the wood tray. I added a few more trees and a cute little bike. I sprinkled a few vintage ornaments around the tray and the centerpiece was complete.
I placed a
black and white paper table runner on the table and then added some more bottle brush trees and vintage ornaments down the length of the table and it was completely finished.
When you are ready to serve your meal, it is easy to tie the same style right in by using simple plates,
white wine glasses, pretty green cloth
napkins tied with some
paper ribbon and placing an ornament on the plate.

I love a beautiful neutral or traditional table, but I can not deny, I am loving this fun and bright table this year. If you would like to see my 10 Minute Idea from last Christmas, I made a fur garland. You can also quickly print these Advent tags for your own Advent Calendar.
