Christmas time. We are all in and ready. Mostly. There are still some bins here and there to head up to the attic and we still have to cut down our "real tree", but it feels good to have the halls decked and the mistletoe hanging. And the bins mean are not important. This first picture above is my favorite few at Christmas. And of course our tree.
But wait, back up, let's head to the front door where we have our nativity set and waiting. It seems like such a perfect spot for it with our new dresser out here.
I have simplified things over the years but still try to bring touches throughout our home. I went for more greenery, of course some galvanized details and lots of natural elements. And little pops of red here and there.
Handmade details like our yardstick tree, family pictures, and of course our
soy candles keep it simple but make things a little special for the season.
This little galvanized tray I found just last week at a barn sale (yeah!) and turned it upside down as a little pedestal.
I am quite smitten with our mantel, but I will share more on that tomorrow. Our tree is filled galvanized and snowballs ornaments with a simple red gingham ribbon as a garland.
I had a little bit of fun with our reindeer on our coffee table. I found these a few years ago at Target (I think) and I made evergreen crowns for them, while watching a Hallmark movie of course.
The evergreens used here and throughout are a base of fake with real ones mixed in. If any of them dry out too much, I can just pull them and I have a small stash I am keeping outside to refresh with.
A galvanized tray here and there, a few vintage books, some white trees I picked up and of course, a few more soy candles and that was pretty much the theme throughout our family room.
As I moved towards the kitchen, I brought in more hints of blue and some winter berries that we have on our new property.
A vintage tray filled pinecones, greenery and some vintage ornaments rests on our console table. I do not remember where I got the huge pinecone but I love it. I have a second one that I used as the "topper" on our tree.
A large vintage blue jar was also filled with winter berries. I drove past these berries for so many years and it so fun that now I can just go and pick them. Okay, Dana went and picked them for me while I waited in the warm truck.
Our kitchen is simple and easy. A few of our holiday tea towels and touches of red are all the kitchen needs.
I hoping most of the decorating in here will be cookies and a few gingerbread houses.
We have a little bit of a candy-cane-addict in our house, so I decided not to fight it and put them out on the island along with marshmallows for hot cocoa. I added a small stash of our maple candies that some of us may or may not like to pop into our coffee.

When your chalkboard paper in your frame gets all torn up, you decide to use a sharpie on kraft paper instead and have a little
mistletoe fun.
