Washi Tape Crafts: Lamp & Shelf
Have you ever heard of Washi Tape?
I have been seeing it around for awhile, but hadn’t really done anything with it yet. A picked up a roll here and there. When I was contacted by Scotch Brand to see if I wanted to do a project with their Expressions tape for back-to-school, I was in.
This is a big year for us in school.
Sunshine is going into 8th grade and Peanut is joining her at the middle school for 6th grade. I knew I wanted them to get them set up for a fun place to get their homework done, so I went to work getting Sunshine’s desk freshened up for school.
Her desk was already a fun space, I just wanted to “zhush” a bit. She asked me if I would dress up the simple lampshade that she already had on the desk. I chose a tape with neon colors and to me at least, looked like a subway map and tied in with the maps already on her desk.
Then I added some stripes of green and blue.
I wasn’t exactly sure how it would go, but it was quite easy to attach and if it wasn’t perfectly straight, it easily was adjusted. I used a piece of scrap tape in between the lines for spacing and for keeping it straight.
And if she tires of it, we can easily change it and update it.
I put it together while sitting at her desk and I realized that the front of the white shelves were perfect for adding some washi tape as well and I absolutely love how it came out.
She has so many fun and bright items on her shelves with a travel theme and the tape pulls them all together so perfectly.
And because I just couldn’t help myself, I added some orange patterned tape to her frame as well.
I think I am now officially hooked on the washi tape idea and my mind is already spinning with new ideas. It is just so easy to use and change and just add a little touch to change things.
And the metallic gold has my head spinning.
