The Hunted Interior
As you may or may not know, I have a small interior design business. Because of that, I am always studying and researching all types of design styles.
I love so many different looks, but find myself drawn consistently to interiors with more of a modern edge.
While I have a few elements of modern in my home, the reality is, in my own home, I am a traditional girl.
Last year when I attended Haven, I had the great opportunity to meet and become friends with the super talented Kristin of The Hunted Interior. Since then I have always enjoyed reading her blog and seeing what new and brilliant projects she has come up with.
For months, we have been trying to figure out a way to work on something together that worked with our different styles.
But then it occurred to me – that our differing styles were the interesting part.
Now while I do realize it is unlikely that she actually watched the Osmonds weekly like I did, I contacted Kristin with the idea of “I’m a Little bit Country, She’s a Little Bit Rock and Roll” and crossed my fingers that she wasn’t so much younger than me she wouldn’t know the song.
Luckily, she did and today I am sharing a comparison of our homes (through the eye of Donny and Marie!) and showing that every home can have similar elements and styles pulled together in a different way. We are hoping that you can see that inspiration can come from any home and interpreted into your own style.
Our Kitchens…
We both have white painted cabinets and warm wood floors. Kristin uses a beautiful and simple black counter top and both the flush mount fixture and the pendant light over the sink are DIY projects. Her full chalkboard wall is a constant changing canvas for fun and pretty art and inspiration (and the occasional photo shoot!).
Our kitchen here uses light counters and soft green walls for more of a farmhouse look.
Our fireplaces…
We both use mirror on top of our white painted fireplaces and chose to layer items on the mantel. However, Kristin takes it in a fun and beautiful direction with her stacked log treatment.
You can find several mantel stylings in our home here.
Our kid’s rooms…
We both used a mixture of brights and white and incorporated some traditional elements. However, Kristin’s room however brings in a little more sophistication. If I promised my now 12 year a mirror ball I may have been more successful in incorporating more elegant elements.
You can see more details on my daughter's room here.
And just to show you how fabulous Kristin really is, here are a few more of her projects.

And the best news is that Kristin is hosting a fabulous sale with my friends and Joss & Main from today through March 10th 2013.

A little bit rock and roll?
or both?
Thanks so much for reading!
