Okay, I hope you are willing to put up with one more post about Nevada.

Trust me, we really don’t go very many places so it will be a while before you have to put up with trip pictures again.

I have been a busy bee the last few days getting lots done – so projects and landscaping and mantel posts are coming soon – promise!

I just have to get all of this off my heart – it is just good stuff!

Love this picture of the four of us – Peanut is always her own girl!

The afternoon after we saw the horses, we drove up to an old western town called Virginia City and had a blast.

We each gambled a whole dollar in the slot machines – big spenders!

Peanut was a little disappointed because she thought she was panning for gold – well guess what – we found some.

This man was so very kind and entertaining. I was thankful to find something that Peanut could enjoy as well.

On the way to Virginia City, we stopped in Gold City at a Made in Nevada market. I wish I had taken pictures of all the people we met there – they were amazing. At one point a lady starting telling me the most beautiful story about witnessing a birth of a wild horse. As she explained how the stallion was bucking and neighing and how the other mares helped the momma, her eyes filled with tears.

I felt very lucky to hear that story from her.

I am thinking the real gold around here is the people.

Back in Virginia City, this is the 100 mile view.

Our favorite thing to do with Mick and Deb is to play cards. We used to play pretty much every weekend when they still lived across the street. Back then, we used to put Sunshine to sleep in the middle of their bed. This time, we turned the TV on in the bedroom they stayed in and that was a huge treat for them - watching TV in bed!

IMG_1418 On our final day we had the incredible privilege of having brunch on a ferry boat that sailed on Lake Tahoe.

There was a couple taking a picture of their gnome that they brought everywhere with them. Later this year he is going to Yosemite.

We might need to get a gnome.

The lake is split down the middle between Nevada and California and at every turn it was beautiful.

This is the best representation I could get of the color of the water.

It is not everyday that you get to hang out with Mark Twain.

IMG_1575

This was the cross on the hill not too far from their home. Sunshine really wanted to get to the top – and so did I.

IMG_1408

So we set out on our final evening trying to get there.

There are paths everywhere in the foothills so we assumed there must be one to the cross.

We only made it about a third of the way and we were long past having a path at that point. We decided to call it and just be amazed at how someone got the cross up there. I was thankful we did not meet any snakes.

There is a quote by Mark Twain that says something like “If you don’t like the weather in Nevada, wait thirty minutes”. That was so true. Being in the valley, you could see multiple weather patterns around you and with the winds it was only amount of time before a new one blew through.

There are no filters or actions on this. Just the beauty of a new weather pattern moving through.

Thanks for letting me share and document this amazing trip here, and as always, thanks for reading.
