Finding-Fall-Home-Tour-updated And now let's start the tour! Hannah Mae is so glad you are here. It looks like I have such a well behaved dog that she is willing to pose there to greet you. The truth is, she was intrigued with what I was doing and had no intention of moving, so I just went with it. This year, our home is decorated with a mix of really subtle and simple touches to bolder ideas like a mantel full of pumpkins and colorful leaves. In the past, I have used more subtle colors and greens and blues for the fall. This year, I was feeling like the more traditional colors of fall were calling my name. Fall-Home-Tour-Welcome I shared last week when I put together this hydrangea arrangement, using a vintage maple bucket, that I ended up there after not finding anything I liked in the stores for fall. In the end, the only thing I ended up buying was all of the fresh pumpkins. I was lucky enough to find a local farm that has the best pumpkins, for a really reasonable price. Fall-Entry-Decorating-Foyer Everything else was about using my own stash of things. I brought out more neutral and textured pillows, lots of wood accents and cut flowers for some places. In our living room, it really was just about bringing in some limelight hydrangea and moving around some pillows. Living-Room-Fall-Decorating-Ideas I am so excited that I am now able to share our beautiful wood and galvanized bar that we made earlier this year. It is one of my favorite projects for our book, DIY Rustic Modern Metal Crafts, which is available for pre-order now! Bar 1 Hannah made her way over to the dining room, but she is kind of tired. In here, I just cut some flannel fabric down for a runner, added some dried wheat to a vintage tool box and some pumpkin candle holders. Dining-Room-Fall-Decorating-Ideas Fall-Dining-Room-Decorating-Ideas On the other side, I simplified our vintage door plate wall and just hung some clock faces. I brought out my brown transfer ware and stacked them up on some galvanized trays. Then I just added some brass candle holders to bring a little bit of a fall feel into the room. Candles just make a room more welcoming. Oh, and speaking of candles, I am spilling the beans that I am working on a candle line! Stay tuned, more details soon. Fall-Dining-Room-Decorating copy In our family room, I went a little more literal by adding pumpkins and some leaves tucked in vases. There is one small maple tree in our backyard that starts turning color by mid July. I always call it my "traitor tree" because I can see it from our bedroom window and it taunts me that the end of summer is coming. This year, I decided to appreciate it for its early color and stole some branches to bring inside. Ideas-welcoming-Fall-Family-Room Farmhouse-Fall-Mantel Traditional-Fall-Decorating Simple-Ideas-Fall-Decorating I changed out all the pillows, but used ones that I already had. The striped pillow below is the only new one and the script pillow is from our shop. Comfortable-Fall-Decorating I found the side table at a vintage shop last week, but really it is for our bedroom as a nightstand. Since that room is being painted this week, I thought I would just keep it down here till I am ready. Now, I realize I am going to have hard time moving it out of its place since it looks so cute there. The tray is the one vintage thing I brought back from our trip to Europe. I found it in the sweetest shop in Amsterdam, but it gave me such a hard time getting through security. The milk bottle vase is also from our shop. European-Galvanized-Tray I hung our scrap wood wreath in here. Simple-Fall-Decorating Open-Floor-Plan-Farmhouse-Family-Room I placed a dough bowl on our console table and I added some vintage bits along with some pinecones an some crab apples from a tree in our yard. Simple-Natural-Fall-Decorating Fall-Gallery-Wall Famhouse-Fall-Gallery-Wall Our kitchen is pretty simple during the fall since it is our highest traffic zone in the house. I moved the wall art that was on our vintage door in the dining room into the kitchen on the side of the hutch. I love the way it looks and is a perfect light solution for a space I have been trying to figure out how to put something on forever.
