I am going to speak the truth today. Our little business of selling maple syrup, soy candles and home decor products has kind of taken over the whole house. Like really. I am starting to go a little bit mad. The garage has become our warehouse and shipping center. The dining room has become a work zone for packaging gift sets and overflow of inventory. The flow of boxes in and out of the house is constant. The basement. Well, that is where labeling happens. I share all of this to tell you that our screened porch has become our oasis. It is the one place that hasn't been taken over by our business yet. Because of that, I was determined to keep our porch open as long as possible into the fall, so I did a little fall sprucing up and decorating.
When I decorated our porch this summer, we brought in a new amazing
conversation set from Wayfair. It has been so comfortable and a much better layout for people to spend time on our porch. For the summer, I kept things
mostly neutral but with a little bit of color. For the fall, I kept everything to a gray and blue color palette. I kept a lot of the same pillows I had before and brought in a few with more texture. I also brought in lots and lots of blankets including my favorite wool ones. I had shared that none of these pillows were actually outdoor pillows. Everything is completely covered out here and the roof has quite an overhang so we had no problems with moisture. It was however a fairly dry summer.
I brought in some decorate cabbage plants and a few gourds, feathers and paper mache pumpkins to bring in a little bit more of a fall feel. It really didn't need much.
By keeping things neutral, the real stars are the trees that are just beginning to change right behind us.
I couldn't be happier with how we have set up our porch this year and the changes we have made. The new seating and
the rug I purchased have made for a much better space for our family.
If you can't find me I am likely out here hiding from all of the boxes and dreading when the weather gets too cold to stay out here.
