A Valentine Message

Not much has changed here in the Northeast.

It is still really cold.

There is still a lot of snow on the ground.

But, we can just make out the slightest aroma of sugaring season on the horizon.  A little bit of sun each day gives us hope, even when the wind is howling.

I have shared in the past that for Valentine’s Day, I give a special letter to my my husband and my kid’s telling them, not only that I love them, but why I love them.

And this year, I thought I would write the same letter to you.  I am so thankful for all of you and Valentine’s Day seemed like the perfect time to tell you so.

Dear Finding Home Reader,

Thank you so much for showing up here.  Whether it is one time through social media, occasionally or regularly, I am so thankful for the opportunity to share my thoughts and projects with you   Every time even just one person is here, I am thankful.

Your words of encouragement and kindness overwhelm me sometimes.  There are so many comments that I just have to share out loud with my husband.  Really, sometimes your words lift me up in a way I never knew was possible.

Thank you for caring enough to point out when you think I may have made a mistake or you don’t agree.  Hearing those points are helpful too.

Thank you so much for showing up so that this platform has allowed our family to build an ever evolving business.  We would never be on the journey we are on without this blog.

And to my fellow bloggers, thank you for the beautiful community we have created.  I have learned the most and been inspired by my peers.  So many bloggers have tried new things and forged new paths that have benefited us all.  Thank you for always creating beautiful and inspiring projects that push me to work harder and try to do better.

And to the group of core bloggers who started so long ago, before anyone fully knew what blogs were – thank you for paving the path for the rest of us.

I am finding myself more and more being comfortable with who I am and who I am not.  And so, with great pride I share – I am a sentimental mush pants.  So thank you for letting me share more heart today and always.

I wish you the happiest of Valentine’s Days.  And if you don’t have a “Valentine”, I encourage you to reach out and spend the day with people who make you happy!

With Love,

Laura, aka Mush Pants

  1. Hi Laura ~
What a real nice thing to do – Happy Valentine’s Day to you too.
I’m so glad I found your blog. It is so sincere and warm.

Have a wonderful day today & a loved filled tomorrow.
    Much love,

  2. Well, Missy Mush Pants, that was delightful! You are a special person. I love the way you share the “real” and your heart on your blog. I have narrowed my blog following down – just too many to read every day- but yours will always stay on the list. Happy Valentines Day!

  3. How sweet! And I am so happy to see that the iconic southern bottle tree has migrated up north! I have one and it also has cobalt blue and red bottles! I love how it looks like stained glass when the sun shines through.

  4. Thank you for the lovely Valentine card! It was so nice of you to think of your readers in such a sweet way. I’m looking forward to reading about and seeing your maple sugaring season as it gets underway soon. Best of luck!

  5. Happy Valentine’s to you and your family, Laura. It is a sheer delight to visit your site and with you. You are so gracious. Cheers, Ardith

  6. Loved the Valentine message. What a sweet thing to do. Appreciate so much what you share with us. I’m new to reading blogs and find myself telling my husband about something I’ve read and catch myself saying “a friend wrote today….” How special is that! I wish you a very special Valentine’s Day, as well.

  7. Hey Laura. Thank you for all your inspiration! And wondering how you did the “bottle tree” pictured in your post today? I am a little obsessed with them…I made a “rig up” out of a Birch tree trunk and an old Christmas tree stand I found by the side of the road…it’s been in my driveway end for far too long…I need to finish it! I have been saving cobalt blue bottles for it!
    Thanks. Kimberly

  8. Oh Laura,
You are just so sweet and kind. I really look forward to your posts, especially about your lovely family. Yes I disagree sometimes, but it is because I have come to really feel invested in your continued future success. I feel myself growing with you through baby steps, set backs, and big achievements. I write often to let you know I’m still part of your follower family. So for today Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your wonderful family. Blessings to each one of you on this day of love. Make sure to enjoy your day together, but above all keep warm!!!
    From my home to yours,
    Kathy B
