Sunshine-Finding-Home-Farms The other day, we went for a long walk in the woods. We saw small little ponds. Or maybe they were really big puddles. And big open areas. Walking-Through-Finding-Home Farms We saw mossy little streams and spots that several deer had obviously deemed as their favorite watering hole. Mossy-Love-Finding-Home-Farms And we saw a good old fashioned, densely populated sugar bush. Our-Sugar-Bush And many lovely and amazing gnarly old trees that each got a name. Gnarly-Tree_edited-1 And beautiful rock walls lined with giant trees. Hudson-Valley-Sugar-House-Future-Site_edited-1 And then we stopped and admired the future site of our sugar house. Future-Site-Finding-Home-Farms_edited-1 The beauty of this walk through the woods is that they were our woods. After several years of looking, we finally found the perfect piece of land to buy. It is filled with lots of lots of maple trees and all different type of terrain. And it is only a mile and a half from our house. Putnam-Family-Finding-Home-Farms We are ecstatic. And overwhelmed. And terrified. And excited. And terrified. I think you get the picture. The plan is to move our sugar house off our personal property and bring it to this new location. We will be able to invite guests in to see our operation and share our love for all things maple. We will have an area for sitting and enjoying and hopefully host farm to table dinners and fun different events. This is a big step for us both mentally and financially. We have been trying to figure out this part of the equation for so long, but the truth is we are stuck in growing the business into something viable by running it our of our home. We have run out of space and there is just too much cross over between our personal lives and our business lives. The beauty of being 1.5 miles away is that we will still have the flexibility to move between personal and business as needed for our family. We will continue to tap all of the tree on the land we lease, because they are amazing, but now we will be able to add these to the mix as well. When we are all said and done, we hope to be in the range of around 6000 trees tapped. We are planning on sharing all parts of this journey with all of you. We are working right now on designing the building and what it will hold and what it will look like. I have done a complete 180 degree turn from my original vision, but I am really excited about it. I will be sharing more on all of that soon! If you have been around for a while, you know how we ended up at this point. If not, you can read about the whole journey from the beginning by clicking HERE. So much of this seems unreal and like I have to pinch myself. I know full well that we never would have made it to this point without all of the support and encouragement we have received from all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so much for reading.
