Last week I put together a Summer Wreath while I was working on my summer mantel.

And today, I am going to share with you how I put it together.
I started with a square vine wreath but a circle would work just as well.
Step 1:
I began by laying out all of the components for a general idea of the direction I wanted to go in. I used capiz circles found at a floral supplier, starfish, shells and driftwood pieces.
Step 2:
Take everything off and tie twine to the wreath to be able to hang it.
Step 3:
Hot glue all of the capiz shell pieces first. Do be careful because the heat moves through the shell really quickly. I did a first layer and then came back through with overlapped pieces.
Step 4:
Glue on the other shells and driftwood (very complicated, I know!)
Step 5:
Make twine circles.
Start by tying a knot in the end of the twine. Then, holding it flat to your work surface with the knot facing up, begin creating a spiral to you reach your desired size. I did all different sizes. Once you are at your desired size, cover the whole back side with hot glue. I tried a few techniques and this seemed to work best. Just smooth the end of the twine into the glue once it is cooled enough but not totally hardened. You can either leave the knot or cut it off at this point if it is the way of placement.
Step 6:
Glue the twine circles where you like them and I also added a twine bow in the corner.
And your wreath is ready to hang!

I love everything about your wreath. I especially like the contrast between the twine swirls and the capiz circles. It’s so elegantly simple. I’m over from CSI. Congratulations on your recognition!
