Spray Paint Furniture to Add Color

Green Spray Painted Furniture

I know everyone says the same thing every year.  But this year, for me, it is more true than it has ever been.

Maybe it is because we have had so many changes this summer.

Maybe it is because softball kept us so busy for the first few months.

Maybe it is because of all of the rain we have had.

Spray Painting Wicker

But this summer has flown by way too fast.

I have worn a bathing suit once.  We have a beautiful pool and I have been in it once.

Screened Porch Decorating

We have spent so little time on our comfy porch.

I guess this is just one of those years, work to be done, projects to be completed, places to go.

And that is okay, each year is different and a blessing.

Inexpensive Beach Decorating Ideas

One of the projects I have been working on is getting some things ready for my parent’s beach house on LBI which as damaged in Hurricane Sandy.   I shared the reclaimed wood whale art I made and now I want to share this sweet table – which is currently living on our porch until the house is ready.

Decorating with Shells

I had seen a similar table from a wonderful company and I loved the bright colors in came in.  But, at $450 it certainly did not fit our budget.  So, I went hunting and found this table at a yard sale for $10.

I simply cut off the unraveled wicker on the legs, turned her upside down to start, flipped her over and she was covered in one coat.  It took about a can and a half to complete the project.  I let her dry for a few hours and she was done.

It really can be that simple.

So even though this added one more project to the list I loved doing it.

So much, I am going to have hard time letting her go.  I may be on the hunt for another wicker side table to paint this same color.  By the way, the paint I used was by Rust-oleum and it was Eden in a satin finish.

Bargain Beach Furniture

So even if summer is flying by, a simple project to add color to furniture with spray paint can be a quick one to cross off the to-do list.

  1. the green looks ideal on your porch…don’t you just hate it when you want to keep something you made for another? 😉

  2. I am also having one of those summers. I have been in my pool five times! I will be glad to see the end of summer this year, so we can slow down a bit!

  3. Hi Laura, I found your blog a few months ago and now I read it every day. I just love it! Yesterday I read your guest post about the wooden pumpkins on Infarrantly Creative, and then clicked over to read the post you had written about tearing down your grandfather’s house and salvaging the wood. Made me think of my own grandparents who, in 1924, started the long process of making a home on the side of a rocky canyon. Bit by bit and rock by rock they built terraces, a house, corrals, planted fruit trees, berries, a HUGE vegetable garden and made a little Garden of Eden out in the middle of nowhere. So, I really appreciated your story of how hard your grandfather worked to build his home.

Thanks for your awesome blog! And Happy New School Year!

  4. I love summer. I love having my boys home with me. I love haing no schedule and no routine to follow. I just wish it could last longer.
I also love the color you used on the wicker table you painted for your parents. It looks perfect on your porch. That would be a hard one to let go.
Enjoy your weekend. It’s our last before school starts on Wednesday!

  5. LOVE this darling little table and am encouraged to spray paint some wicker I have. But talk about a summer going by quickly – this one has whooshed by as we prepare for our son’s wedding – IN our backyard – in THREE weeks. Madly trying to keep the garden alive, finish a picket fence, find my dress. Whew!

  6. omigosh, so much better! I was just given a wicker shelving unit and it looks like your before table. I was going to get rid of it, but now I think I’ll paint it – thanks for the inspiration!!

  7. I love the colour of this spray paint. May I ask what kind and the colour? I have some here called green leaf but it’s much brighter and i prefer this softer, vintage green. Your porch looks so inviting. I hope you will get some porch days before the cold weather sets in.

  8. I love your sweet little table! Even the drop cloth is pretty! Thanks for sharing your creativity — your ideas are great pick-me-ups.

  9. Laura,
I think you will just have to look for a new table….for your parents. This one is “just right”. The green picks up the little green stripe in your cushions. Perfect.

  10. Just had a moment here…I’d have passed on the table with the wicker unraveled. And if I did get it, I’d have spent to much time trying to repair it and made a big mess and quit. Note to self: just do it!! Thank you for the lesson, Laura.

  11. Its a wonderful shade of green……………..looks awesome, Love & Blessings to your/yours…

  12. Love the green sprayed table..How about the watering can..what color did you paint that?

    Thank you,
