Truth time here.
I had a super cute Valentine’s Day project for you today.
Steps on through 4 went awesome.
Step 5…total fail.

So what is a girl to do when she is buried in epic amounts of snow and her project doesn’t work?
She plays with her camera and some new tricks she learned last weekend.
And she reflects.
My mantel has some decorations with some rustic Valentine letters – but other that that, there is no Valentine’s decor.
And my kids did not want to do Valentine’s for their friends – not even just to be funny – for the first time.
And by the time I got to the store to pick something up for my kids, the shelves were empty.
It is kind of like if a tree falls in the woods, but no one is there to hear it….if your kids don’t want decorations or Valentines – does Valentine’s Day really happen?

And then my sweet honey calculated that this will be our 23rd Valentine’s Day together and reminded me of a very funny, although not at the time, Valentine’s Day story.
And my kids were in the office working on a project that I was “definitely not allowed to see.”
And I realized that I love making Valentines with my girls and decorating, but we are in a new season. And sometimes not needing all of the fluff is actually quite comforting.
Enjoy whatever season you are in.
If today is a hard day for you – I wish you the confidence to face the day knowing how amazing you are.
If you are snowed in without roses or cards – that’s okay – it’s never too late to make your own.
And if you have project fails – just pick up and try again!
Happy Valentine’s Day sweet friends!

Sometimes simply is best! Cute arrow! Happy Valentine’s!
Happy Valentines Day to you too. The arrow is really sweet — maybe you can save it for another project. It is hard to realize kids grow up and you miss out on the fun things you did together. My hubby and I don’t do anything special for Valentines Day — we think every day should be Valentines Day and that’s how we treat every day. Hope your weather starts cooperating soon.
One of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received for Valentine’s day came as a comment from our 16 year old son yesterday after a trip to Target. “Not sure why people get so worked up over Valentine’s day. You leave us notes, bake us treats and all that stuff everyday. Maybe everyone should do that and then they don’t have to stand in line with a million other people grumbling about picking something out!” Eloquent it was not, but I still got teary. Have a wonderful, happy day friends. You are loved. xoxoxo
Happy valentines day. Being snowed in this week, kids valentine gift that I ordered not getting here till next week and busting tail to make kids class valentines only to have the parties postponed till next week…..I think we will all love on each other and eat pink cupcakes all day.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your family Laura…As we exchanged our “valentine’s” this morning, we realized we had done this 44 times…so wonderful that you have found your true soul mate to celebrate many wonderful occasions together such as today…
Happy Valentine’s Day to you, too!
It’s always the small things in life that make it worth the living. 🙂

Happy Valentines to you! Thank You for this post it is good to know I’m not alone. My teen kids both have dates tonight and are no longer “my valentines” but someone else’s, and my youngest has the flu and pink eye. I’m under the weather as is the Hubby. I was able to get small boxes of chocolates for them yesterday but things were soooo picked over. My Hubby looked at me this morning and just started laughing as he hugged me. He asked ” If I knew 19 years ago that this is how V-day was going to look now, would I run away laughing and never give him a second look?” Honestly, I’m not sure, but I’m glad I didn’t know. I can’t imagine my life without him. There is no one else in the world I’d rather spend a germy, feverish, gunky eye, worried about whether the kids are going to make curfew and where they are day with 🙂
Laura,
You do so many things well we understand a miss now and then. The biggest fail is not trying. Expecting perfection everytime leads to not doing for many.
It is the journey we are on with you.
Happy Valentines day to You, Dana, Sunshine and Peanut. and that curly dog too.

Cute arrow! Nothing this year in terms of cards and decorations. But the best gift of all… we have been home due to snow for 3 seperate dasy this week. For us, though not for others, it has be wonderful.
Kind of a “different” Valentine’s Day over here, too. I’m taking the pressure off of myself, and just rolling with it! It will be a sweet day, no matter what. Happy Valentine’s Day to you!

Oof I know that feeling! My little man is still in the stage of writing love notes, I always cringe when I think he might be growing out of it.
Laura did you ever find a new bed yet? Waiting to see how you redo your room.Hope you had a great valentine day. I took the day off and went shopping at pet smart with my dog Booker. Then took hubby to lunch.
Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. It’s such a romantic and happy holiday. I like all the pretty decorations, chocolate hearts, flowers, cards, etc. What a great idea turning an ordinary household item into a pretty Valentine decoration such as your yardstick arrow.
