Front Porch Christmas Decorating – Blogger Stylin’ Home Tour

Welcome to our front porch.  Mother Nature decided to show up at the very last minute with some pretty and white fluffy snow – just for you!  Today, I am part of the Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours, sponsored by Lindsay of The White Buffalo Styling Co.  If you are just joining me from The Jones Design Company, welcome and thank you so much for stopping by.  Don’t you just love the home that she shared?

I already shared the inside of our home all decked out for Christmas – you can find that by clicking here – Farmhouse Christmas Home Tour

I love front porch Christmas decorating and creating an inviting entrance to our home.  On TV two nights ago I watched one of those “light decorating wars” while I made some gift baskets.  If that is the look you are looking for – you are in the wrong place.  We keep things pretty simple around here and work with what we have.  The only new things I purchased is the green plaid ribbon (found at a local independent store) and the snowflake lights.  I have been trying to find snowflakes that don’t blink like a disco for some time now and I am giddy that I did (at a discount store in NH).

I tried to think about what I wanted to put on the front door and see if there was a new DIY wreath idea in my head, like the wood slice wreath I made last year.  Turns out, there were no wreath ideas in my brain this year. And I am so glad for it.  It has been a long time since we had a simple evergreen wreath on our door and I love it.  It works even better since I chose not to use evergreen roping around the door.  You can read about how I came up with this simple front door decorating idea in July.

I brought out some indoor/outdoor pillows include the sweet car pillow, filled a galvanized bucket with greenery and outdoor ornaments and added our yardstick star.  This brought in just the right amount of color and place to sit when the kids are out sledding.

I tend to get a little sentimental and add things my husband’s snowshoes (that he still treks through the woods in when tapping tree to make our maple syrup), vintage maple syrup buckets and vintage ornaments (that my dogs have decided are play toys – I kept thinking they were catching their tails on them, until I caught them in the act of stealing them!).  I created the “joyeux Noel” sign from a vintage stocking stretcher.

The flowers of our raised beds are replaced by our long loved Santa and his reindeer, made for us by my father-in-law.

Do you see what is peeking out beyond the porch?  That would be our sugar house!

I was so excited to decorate the sugar house this year, but in the end, decided to go very simple and classic.  We placed two candles in the front windows and hung greenery swags on the barn doors.  At night, there is a simple spotlight shining on the doors.

Our tradition on Christmas Eve is that when we return from church, we place baby Jesus in the manger.  Snow, sleet or rain, we all trek through and remind ourselves the real reason for the season.

I could not end our outdoor tour without some happy wishes for your holiday from the fluffiest members of our family – Hannah Mae and Bailey Rose!

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year – and whatever works for you – know we wish you the very best!  Now it is time to move to the next stop on the tour – Jennifer Rizzo Design Company!  And if you would like to follow the tour from the beginning, please stop by The White Buffalo Styling Co.

Thank you so much for reading!
