Easy Summer Table Ideas – 4th of July

Red White and Blue Food Decor and Craft Ideas

Hello Friends!  Today I have joined with a whole group of bloggers to share red, white & blue ideas for food, decor and crafts.   Make sure you scroll down to the bottom to see all of the projects.

I decided to share some table ideas for the 4th of July, but with a little twist.

I don’t know about your, but I get overwhelmed with bins for every holiday.  It just seems like more money to spend, more things to sort through and the worst part, more things to organize.   So, I set out to create a fourth of July table setting with things I already had.  Okay, I lied, I bought the ribbon.  In my defense, I have a weakness for ribbon so I kind of “had to”.

I started with a red table runner that I have used in the summer, for Valentine’s day and for Christmas.  Today, it is a 4th of July runner.  Then, I just started looking through my cabinets for color.  What was blue, white or red?

My everyday dishes happen to be blue (and with scenes of US history so that makes it even better) transfer ware (Liberty Blue).  However, this could have easily worked with white plates as well.  I added a dish towel, a plain white napkin and even some blueberries.  If I need more red, I could have worked with raspberries or apples.  The white unbreakable stemless glasses are from our shop.

It was all pulled together with the ribbon of red, white and blue.  See, I told you I needed the ribbon!

I hope in sharing this with you today you might be inspired to look things you already own and find ways to make them work for the fourth of July, or for any holiday really.  Now, set your table and fill your home with friends and family!

Thanks so much for reading and click on over to the other projects that inspire you.

  1. I like the idea of an all purpose runner. We just don’t have the room for lots of seasonal decorations. I always have red and blue bandannas around the house — perfect for the fourth. Thank you for the red runner inspiration. I could make one and always have it for those holidays.

  2. Gorgeous! (But then I am a sucker for anything with red!) And your Liberty china….love love love it! I keep thinking I would like to own some of it, but I am a chicken to commit to yet another pattern. (The cabinets are overflowing with china here.) Great job!

  3. Your lovely tablescape does look “themed” just by the colours you’ve used. I really need to take your advice to heart as I’m tired of organizing and reorganizing stuff. If only I could remember that when I’m in a store and see something “so perfect”! Thanks for sharing.

  4. G’day from Oz via the link up at I should be Mopping the Floor! I had to come & see your post as I love your blue & white dishes! I have Spode dishes so love seeing how others use them in tablescaping. I love your ideas so thanks for sharing them.

    Best wishes,
