Decorating Ideas: Summer Tablescape

Rustic & Elegant Summer Tablescape

I have a secret to confess.

I am not the best hostess in the world.

If you come to my home, I am more likely to want to sit down and talk with you, pour you another beverage than worry about cleaning the table.

I am more likely to cook enough food for an army because I will be so worried about not having enough.  Or, like when my girlfriends came in last week, I will be completely ill-prepared and be so thankful that you showed up with your own food.

Some people are a natural at it.

They can perfectly judge how much food to make, it is always delicious and when you turn around, everything is put away and clean.

But I can promise you this.

I will be so glad you are here.

I will know that you are the type of person who doesn’t worry about the mess in the sink and will probably help me clean it anyway.

I can promise you that I will try to make you feel incredibly welcome.  I will make sure that you are not worried if something spills because it is easy to wipe up.

I will most likely have candles burning, low lamps turned on and music playing because I think the atmosphere around us helps us relax and have fun.

I hope the day you come is one of my “inspired days” when I make a favorite recipe like Maple Bacon Cheese Cups.  But, it is just as likely we will order delivery pizza so all we have to do is throw out the box!

And today is a lucky day, because I asked some of my favorite blog friends to invite you to their table as well.

Thank you so much for being the hostess with the mostestess. 🙂

    Happy day to you!

  2. you and i would get along just fine! i don’t even remember to refresh drinks! i am too busy enjoying my own party. i will work like a crazy woman for days or weeks and then up to the minute the doorbell rings…and then i want to sit a spell and visit!! and drink in the conversation, catch up on the comings and goings, ask deep probing questions, laugh A LOT, cry a little and then whine when it is time to end. pizza is the best and i know all the best delis in town. with pretty dishes and table no one minds at all 😉
    lovely table…enjoy.

  3. What a relaxing and inviting scene you’ve set! I LOVE your hydrangeas- mine are in bloom too (there’s pics on the blog), but I’m always too scared to cut them and bring some in because I want them to last as long as possible out there!!!!

  4. So gorgeous and inspirational!! The hydrangeas are gorgeous. I am like you I always make enough food for an army. I am also afraid I won’t have enough. I am usually pretty organized, I just loving cooking for people that I get carried away!

  5. Your table is lovely, and yes I would love a maple bacon cheese cup, but pizza is fine! Big fat summer hydrangeas make everyone instantly sigh and relax with their effortless beauty. Your simple table with galvanized buckets full of flowers and flatware is just perfect!

  6. Your table setting is absolutely gorgeous! You wouldn’t have to feed me or even give me a drink, I would be happy to just sit there admiring the beauty of it all! The purple hydrangeas especially – they’re my very favourite flower 🙂

  7. Great post. I was checking constantly this blog and I am impressed!

I was seeking this certain information for a very long time.

  8. Girl. Where did you get that gorgeous light??
This table setting is so dreamy! The hydrangeas are perfect. & I am a total mess as a hostess!
