Decorating Ideas: Memorial Day

memorial-day-decorating-ideas

Sometimes decorating for a holiday can be color confusing.

At Halloween, are you going to go classic black and orange?

At Christmas, blue and white, or green and red, or all white?

But for Memorial Day, decorating ideas are pretty straight forward.

Red. White. Blue.

We are hosting a gathering of softball families this weekend, so I have started pulling together some of the decorations.  I found the fantastic stars at The Christmas Tree Shops.  I think I am going to hang them in the porch and there is already one on the front door.  You can even put lights in them.  Love.

And what is more American than a basket full of twizzlers candy?

I got the bandana inspiration from this great post over at Uncommon Designs.

It is a great example of how easy it is to get all patriotic for the holiday.

You could even just put some colored ribbon in a basket.

Or simply cut and fold some paper medallions for red, white and blue paper.

And of course, the easiest option is to simply hang an American Flag.

Whatever you do, it doesn’t need to be complicated.

I know I like to take the time to show my American pride and express our thanks to all who have served our country.

Wishing you all a holiday weekend filled with fun, relaxation, time with people you love and a thankful heart for how lucky we are in this country.

And to my non-American friends, I also wish you a weekend filled with fun, relaxation and time with people you love.

Thanks for reading!

  1. I wish you a happy and safe holiday weekend, Laura. We had our Victoria Day long weekend last weekend and got one sunny day out of the 3. It’s rained every day all week and no sun shine until Wednesday! Not sure what we’ll be doing other than staying indoors. I love how Americans decorate for the Memorial Day and Independence Day holidays with the red, white and blue. It looks beautiful. Blessings. Pamela

  2. Have a great long weekend! It was a long weekend in Canada last weekend ( Victoria Day). Hoping your weather was better than ours 🙂

  4. Hiya! Quick question that’s totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My site looks weird when browsing from my iphone 4. I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that
might be able to resolve this problem. If you have any suggestions, please share.
    Thanks!

  7. Typically, each CCS project is being monitored extensively by international team of
scientists to nonprofit technology spending make sure that the public is protected.
This happens because when you started, the group probably had one PC and dialup.

  8. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation
but I fknd this matter to be actuakly something that I think I
would never understand. It sseems too complex and extremely broad for me.
I am looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get
    the hang of it!

  11. Try them out in a store, even if you do end up getting a better price online and ordering there.
This provides the developers just over 8 several weeks to acquire the
expansion into shape. In still another sense, it’s “as if” these “Liberal Progressives” are
being DIVINELY DISCIPLINED, in their “altruistic”
hedonism,” their “quid pro quo” BASTARDIZATION of the INTRINSICALLY-ROOTED SACREDNESS of the Moral Law, which they
only wish to selfishly, instrumentally, and “Epicureanly” EXPLOIT; even
despite the fact that their characteristic interpretation of its actual content
is otherwise so much more conveniently accurate, in many vital ways, as
well as so much more ABOMINABLY PERVERTED, in various other ways, than that of the “Christianly Republican Stoics”
who are being permitted to so overwhelmingly oppress them with a classically, demonically Roman Catholic counterfeit of God.

  12. loved this post, going to the Xmastree store and see if I can find these stars!! Don’t know WTH is going on with the other comments??? and… btw, twizzlers are made of WHEAT if you have any guests that are gf you can have other candy or gf licorice out, just FYI.

  13. Love this post. I’ll be heading to the Christmas Tree Store to see if I can find some of those great stars. Love that you can put lights in them. I think if I find some I may hang an old window frame by my front door and have a star or two hanging from the window. Twizzlers use to be my all time favorite till I found out they are made from wheat. Never would have guessed that but they do look good in the basket.
What is going on with all of the other comments? Crazy.
Hope you have a nice and relaxing weekend.

  14. Sex Chatroulette ROOMS are “areas” on the Internet where users can have live, two-way conversations via text messages.

It really shouldn’t have caused such a big debate on it and censoring the
cards for the North American version. A miniature wireless camera will transmit
full motion, real time color video up to a range of 150 feet while
a built-in microphone captures all the audio.
