Christmas Decorating: Silver & Gold Candle Plate

Silver-Gold-Candle-Plate

I have brought a lot of red, with touches of black and white in our home this Christmas.  I even brought them outside.

But I was starting to feel the need for a little bit of silver, and a little bit of gold.

And so I decided to make a candle plate.

And then I remembered that it usually works out that I am a craft hoarder.

Seriously, I am thinking it is possible that I bought these plain glass plates more than 10 years ago.

I coated the underside of plates with Krylon Looking Glass Spray – following the directions on the can.

And then I added gold glitter to the edge of the plate and then used a stencil to adhere glue and glitter in a snowflake pattern.

I grouped it with a few other Christmas items, added some candles, added some greenery and ornaments and it is all set to go.

And it is just the little touches of silver and gold that I needed.

And if you would like to see more ideas on ways to use Krylon looking glass paint, today is your lucky day.  I am lucky enough to be part of a whole group of bloggers sharing their projects today.

  1. I’m all about sparkle and shine at Christmas too and it’s nice to see you post this today. I too, have decorated in red, white, natural greens etc. with not as much sparkle so your post has encouraged me to add some glam to the country style. Your decorated plates are so pretty and simply done with the greenery, glass balls and votives. Beautiful! Have a great weekend. Pamela

  2. I love it! Gold and silver just seem to be a “must” at Christmas, regardless of the other colors one might choose. You are very creative! I’m a candleholic so this DIY really appeals to me.

  3. Do you bake your spray painted items? I’m seeing where ppl bake the Krylon in a 150 degree oven for 10 minutes… Do you know anything about this? And I love your article. I’m getting some of that paint! That is just too cool! Thanks
