Sugar-Shack-in-the-Summer

1 - Summer is done, but we are still hanging on.

School has started, but around here the leaves are still green. Okay, there are a few red leaves peaking in here and there, but I am not paying attention yet. We have had a busy summer between work commitments, kids' schedules and as much fun and relaxation as we could fit in. I can't deny that once we reach this point in the summer, I am usually ready to start getting back into a little bit more of a structured day. And with that, hopefully hanging around here more often!

2 - Where are we with the new building?

Let's describe it as two steps forward and one step back. We have run into a lot of glitches which I will share more about in the future. In the meantime, we are still moving forward and are really, really, really hoping to start building this fall. We will keep you updated!

3 - Fall Home Tour

Even though I am holding out on fall outside, I am starting to bring it inside. I am so excited that next week will be our fourth annual Finding Fall Home Tours. We are mixing it up a bit and doing it all on one day. So make sure to stop by on Monday the 12th to see all of the beautiful homes that will be opened up to share with you. 4 - Trade Shows!

We attended two different wholesale trade show this summer. First, in June, we attended the Fancy Food Show. Then, in August we attended the NY Now show. We set out in January that our goal would be to attend these two shows. I was intimidated and knew it would be a lot of work, but could not have fully understood how much work it really was. I am happy to say, however, that both shows were totally worth it. I will share more details on our set-up and booth in the coming weeks.

5 - Meal Planning Experts Please Chime In

So we ended the long weekend with our first ever attempt at meal planning for the week. We sat down and planned out both lunches and dinners and a few thoughts on breakfast. Then we all went to the grocery store to get what we needed for the week. We feel like it will work well with our busy schedules now that sports on back on the calendars and that it will hopefully lead to less food being thrown away. We are totally newbies at this though, so please chime in if you tips and suggestions!

6 - Country Living Fair!

I am so excited to share that I will be at the Country Living Fair next week in Ohio! We will once again be in the tent with the amazing Jen from Earth Angels Studios. I have a few surprises with that as well and I will share them later this week. Are you going? If so, please introduce yourself, I would love to meet you! Hudson-Valley-Sugar-House-in-the-Summer

7 - New Scents in the shop!

I am so crazy in love with our new scents we are launching today in our soy candle line! Nutmeg is delicious and is perfect for the fall but carries right through to the holidays. Imagine drinking your eggnog with the Nutmeg candle burning! What is more perfect than a pumpkin candle? Well, a pumpkin candle that isn't overly pumpkiny. We paired it with sage that gives it just the perfect balance to fill through room without be overpowering. We absolutely love it.

New-scents-square And that is all my friends! I think that catches us up from the last few weeks. Thanks, as always, for reading! Quickpen-Signature_edited-1
