Painted Canvas: Mod Podge Photo Transfer

Painted Canvas: Mod Podge Photo Transfer

Our place, as a family – is Long Beach Island in NJ.  There is just something about being there that does our souls good.  Years ago, we went to a special spot on the northern end and had some pictures taken.  Last year, we went back and I attempted to recreate some of the same photos now that the girls were older.

But one picture was a new shot and one that melted me.  What is about a picture of the back of my kids walking?  And then add their Dad and I am sold.

Sandy took its toll on my parent's beach condo so we just don’t know if we will make there this year, but if not – we still have this sweet reminder.

So I decided to create a painted canvas of the image with Mod Podge Photo Transfer medium.

How to Make Homemade Goats Milk Soap (Recipe)

How to Make Homemade Goats Milk Soap (Recipe)

Tutorial - How to make homemade goats milk soap from Finding Home (findinghomeonline.com)

Since Mother's Day is near and I think this is a perfect gift idea - I thought I would bring back one of my all time favorite project - sharing with you how I made homemade goats milk soap.

But first, I have to make a confession.

I am a scent snob.

I try not to be, but it is true.

I bring home all kind of things that smell yummy in the store, but when I get home…, well my sister always gets them.

But there are two scents I love always.

Lemon Verbena and Lavender.

And if they are mixed – even better.

So I decided I would try my hand at making my own soap – in my favorite scents.

And if it is going to smelly yummy, it may as well feel yummy too, so I made it with goats milk soap ingredients.

And it could not have been any easier.

DIY Foam Core Framed Canvas & Sharpie Art

DIY Foam Core Framed Canvas & Sharpie Art

I think it is save to say I love hand script sharpie art.  There is something about it, I just love.  And in this case, I also love that I came with up with an idea for a DIY Framed Canvas.

They say that necessity is the mother of all invention – well I think the need for instant gratification is the mother of all craft and DIY ideas.

I recently had this idea to create a framed canvas – but there was one problem, I only had a small canvas in my stash and there was so much snow outside, heading to the craft store was a challenge.

DIY Console Table

Quick and Easy DIY Console Table

Yesterday, I went shopping for a table.  I am not sure what I was thinking.  What was the likelihood of me finding a table about 34'” tall, 22” wide and only about 8” deep?  Oh, and in a rustic wood finish too.

So, instead, I decided (okay, hubby did most of this one) to build a DIY console table that was “just right”.

You see, I was working on another project, and I just felt like I needed a little something in this small space.  This is the cabinet that houses our refrigerator, but as you can see, the door to the deck is right there as well.  And my sweet hubby offered to make me one.

And for that, I was very happy.

The good part about the door being right there is that it makes for the perfect amount of light for some plants – which I hopefully do not kill.
