Quick & Easy Halloween Decorating
Sometimes, I tend to over complicate things.
Sometimes, when I take on a project – there is a tornado in my wake and then I am overwhelmed.
But, sometimes, I am in Target and see this package (for $5!)…
…and I have a quick and easy idea.
The reality is, this year, our garden challenged us greatly.
We battled too much rain and an attack of squash bugs.
When I started to think about our fall decorating, I knew I wanted to take the few pumpkins and gourds that made it and display them proudly.
Our kitchen garden is right outside of our kitchen and visible from all parts of the kitchen and the family room, so I decided it would be the perfect place for us to enjoy the fruits of my husband’s labor (he really took the lead on the garden this year).
This post is sponsored by 3M, however all opinions are my own.
As fall comes in, I am hanging on like crazy to keep spending time outside. So, I thought I would bring a little fall touch to screened porch with an easy DIY outdoor fall sign. And when I say easy, it really is. If you can trace a line - you can do this!
I have had this old cabinet door, bought at a yard sale, for a million years. It was $5 and I knew as soon as I saw it, it would be perfect to create a sign.
Hello fine friends.
I love nothing better than to create something new that would have otherwise ended up in the trash. And that is truly the case with my reclaimed wood pumpkins.
Do you happen to know what a squash bug is?
They are nasty little creatures that we have battled for years and they destroy all of our vine plants in our garden. And if a pumpkin or two manages to survive the onslaught of these buggers, then the rabbits eat them up.
So this year, I decided to be ready. If no pumpkins make it, no worries, I am making my own.
Fall decorating is my favorite - it is just when we start nestling in for the cooler weather - but it is not as complicated as Christmas decorating can be.
One of the easiest rooms I pulled together was our living room. With some subtle changes, we went from a "summer feel" to a "fall feel".
Hello sweet friends!
I hope this day finds you well and enjoying some fresh fall air.
Thank you so much to all of you for your support of our fall home tour this week. It is so greatly appreciated.
And, a huge thank you to all of the lovely ladies who participated this week. It takes a lot of time to pull together a home tour and I am so ever thankful that you did this with me. I could not have asked for a more talented or kind group of ladies.
In case you miss all or some of the stops, I thought I would share them with you today - all together.
This week of fall home tours has been nothing short of fantastic.
And today is going to be no different.
Stop by each of these lovely homes for ideas, inspiration and fall fun.
I have a fun project to share with you today. I am participating in the State Pride Tour with Beckie of Infarrantly Creative. She has teamed up 30 bloggers to share state themed art from their home – or home in their heart – state. Fun idea right?
And here is my project. I created a Mod Podge branch silhouette. I know, I live in NY, but my heart – my heart is in NH.
Before I share the tutorial, here are today’s stop on the Finding Fall Home Tours.
Hello sweet friends. Thank you so much for all of your support of our fall home tour yesterday!
I actually was overwhelmed.
There is a lot of love in blogland. And not to get too hokey or anything, but I am truly humbled by the ladies who are part of this tour. They are all kind and full of heart – and not to mention talented beyond comprehension.
I am feeling truly blessed.
So, if you are just starting today on our fall home tours – go here to start form the beginning and see homes 1, 2 and 3.
For months now, every time I visited a link party and clicked on a link of something beautiful it always seemed to end up at the same place - Daisy Mae Belle. Her home, projects and ideas are always beautiful and classic. Today, she is joining us over here to share a simple and beautiful fall wheat wreath. Please welcome Melissa!
Would someone please pinch me,
because I can't believe that I'm here at Finding Home!
Laura has such an incredibly beautiful blog.
I've been following along for a while,
and am always inspired by what she shares!
Oh, I should introduce myself...

this might be just the project for you!
Hello sweet friends! I hope this day finds you well.
I am admittedly sore from getting back into a workout routine now that my kids are back in school.
Fall brings new routines like going back to school or workouts, pumpkin lattes, cooler weather and fall decorating!
I love to decorate for fall – so much in fact that I have joined up with 15 fabulous bloggers for a fall home tour!
You will be able to tour our homes, one stop to the next, all week long. And the best part? You get to do it in your pajamas if you want! I promise, we won’t judge. I just wish you could really stop by so we could share some pumpkin lattes.
Okay, confession, I really don’t like pumpkin lattes, but I would still serve you one!
So where are you going to visit? Get ready, its a good one!
