Mod Podge Branch State Art and Day 4
I have a fun project to share with you today.  I am participating in the State Pride Tour with Beckie of Infarrantly Creative.  She has teamed up 30 bloggers to share state themed art from their home – or home in their heart – state.  Fun idea right?
And here is my project.  I created a Mod Podge branch silhouette.  I know, I live in NY, but my heart – my heart is in NH.
Before I share the tutorial, here are today’s stop on the Finding Fall Home Tours.
And now back to the state pride project…
I simply started with Mod Podge matte, a 1/4 inch piece of plywood, leaves from the craft store and painting supplies.
I coated one side of the board with Mod Podge and layered the leaves in place.  Then I coated it with a heavy top coat of Mod Podge.
The leaves had dimension – which I wanted, but I also needed them to stay in place.  For the first hour of drying time, I had it covered in wax paper to help hold it in place.
Once dried, I painted the whole thing out in metallic paint (I changed my mind from the original color) and then also coated it with some subtle glitter paint.
I used a cut out of the silhouette of the state and traced in with a marker.
I collected branches from the ground – once that are already down are easier to work with because they are already dry.  Using a glue gun, I filled in the outline of the state with differing sizes of branches.  For the final step, I outlined the whole board in some burlap ribbon.
For our family, NH is in our hearts.  My husband grew up there and his family is still there.  And my husband and I met at University of New Hampshire.  NH has always been about making maple syrup and walks in the woods.  This piece of art sums that all up perfectly for us.
The next stop for the state pride tour is...
