Last week we had a bunch of people over.

And chances are, if the Putnams plan a party, it is going to rain.

A lot.

And, it wasn’t different this time. And we thought about cancelling. It was a lot of people to have inside when it was planned to be an indoor party.

But we went ahead anyway and figured we would just deal with it.

And it didn’t rain.

Okay, it rained a little.

But it passed quickly and everyone seemed to have a good time.

The whole day was a reminder to me. A reminder that it is important to make the time to fill your home with the people you enjoy and care about.

Even if it is a lot of work – although I believe in making it as simple as possible.

And even if it rains.

So as we move into the fall season and the holidays begin approaching, I start thinking about planning for fall fun. And what better way to do that to plan some simple and pretty ideas for decorating your table.

This table is still one of my all time favorites. I used some cut suiting fabric, dishes we had mixed together, simple pumpkins and pine cones and the “wheat” in the picture is weeds picked from my yard.

It really doesn’t have to be complicated.

The candles are votives are mason jars wrapped in layers of lace and glued in place.

If you want to try another style of centerpiece and candles simple cut a hole in apples and add a small votive candle. I stacked them at different heights on a tray –added some pine cones, flowers and door knobs – done!

If you want to add some details for each place setting you can add some simple quotes on pretty paper. You can find the link for the printables and the instructions here.

And if you want to keep things a little more casual and humorous, you can go this route.

And we can’t forget about Halloween. There is something about a gold skeleton that just works for me.

And my favorite details was the gloves for the silverware.

No matter what your style, thinking out of the box and keeping things simple can make for an enjoyable time with friends and family.
