Colorful-DIY-Desk A few weeks ago I shared my thoughts on balance. Actually, to be more accurate, I shared how I believe that balance is a myth. We spend so much time trying to do all things well, all at the same time and it usually ends up in failure. Instead, I have started focusing on seasons. And now that the season of the play is over, I decided to do a little home office decorating and organizing so I can move into a season of work. Office-Desk-Organizing In the interest of keeping things “real”, I didn’t overly stage these photos. I would not call them “magazine ready”. I would call this space one that serves the many purposes that this room serves for us and a place to get some work done! Even though this is a work space, it can also be pretty and filled with some of our favorite and colorful things. Colorful-Home-Office_edited-1 My favorite little truck with a vintage sign in the back changes places from time to time, but I love it right here most of all. The blue ties in with the organizers on my desk that I found at Homegoods. We made this built-in-desk and the organizers and it is still one of my favorite DIY projects. Home-Office-Desk-Decorating That pretty picture in the gold frame is actually the receipt envelope from when I placed an order online with Anthropologie. I held on to it for the longest time and then realized it fit perfectly into a frame I have had forever. Home-Office-Decorating I am especially happy that my work table is clear and the glitter is gone. Okay, most of the glitter. DIY-Built-In-Desk I am embarrassed to admit, but I finally put my calendar together for 2015. Yes, I realize it is March. This year, I purchased this amazing planner from the talented Jen from I Heart Organizing. I-Heart-Organizing-Calendar For three years now I have used some version of the Arc system from Staples. I love this baby and I keep all of my info, calendar, lists, etc. in it. This is the longest I have stayed with the same system so it really works for me. ARC-Calendar-System And while I was at freshening, organizing and getting my desk back into working order, I changed out the light bulb over my desk as well. Bit by bit, I have been changing the light bulbs in our house over to Cree LED bulbs. Cree-Light-Bulbs Look at the difference when I changed to Cree. The light is so much cleaner and fills the whole space so much more.

Cree bulbs light instantly, but are still dimmable which I love. Dimmable overhead light is a big deal to me. The bulbs are also shatterproof and last 25 times longer than a traditional bulb. And if that wasn’t good enough, they use up to 85% less energy that a traditional bulb. You can find Cree bulbs at The Home Depot. You can see how it all works costs wise in this video below. When all the cleaning, organizing, decorating and bulb changing were done, I put some of my favorite things in place. This rock was left on my desk by younger daughter a few months ago. When I have those crazy and frustrating days, I always have this a reminder. Desk-Inspiration-Gift And my older daughter gave me this journal for my birthday. A little reminder to take it one day at a time. Desk-Organization-Ideas Thanks so much for reading sweet friends.
