Easy Fall Decorating

Fall decorating is my favorite - it is just when we start nestling in for the cooler weather - but it is not as complicated as Christmas decorating can be.

Last week, I shared our home all decked out for fall.

One of the easiest rooms I pulled together was our living room. I thought I would share with you today what the subtle changes were (along with some of my friends sharing their ideas too) and share a chance for you to win a gift certificate to do your own shopping.

Fall Living Room

The first thing I did was change out the accessories on the coffee table

Away went the shells, and in their place, candles holders, hydrangea, a pumpkin and some acorns.

Instead of white candles, I went with a pretty terra cotta color to bring in more warmth.

Decorating Ideas for fall

The container holding the flowers is actually a candle holder. I love the size and the color.

Right now, it works perfectly to hold the hydrangea, but when I tire of them, I can simple add a candle on the inside.

It is the perfect size to use a yummy smelling jar candle, while still looking pretty.

Fall Living Room Table

A simple small candy dish, set inside a burlap candle holder provides the perfect spot for some golden acorns.

The metallic tones of the candle holder and the acorns also tie in with the pumpkins.

I love that the colors of them are perfect for the warmer tones of fall without going full "orange", which really would not have worked in this space.

Fall Decorating - Copper Pumpkins

One of my favorite changes to make is to change out the pillows.

I must admit, I have a lot of throw pillows. They seem to be that one thing I can't resist when I find a good one at a great price.

If you are only going to make one change to a room - I think changing the pillows is always a safe bet.

If you struggle with storage locations, you can use Space Bags to get them tucked in closet corner.

Living Room Decorating

But the one thing that pulls it all together - is the wreath.

I have had two small mirrors on there for a long time - and I still love them. But, I love how the wreath changes the room. I have used wreaths on interior and exterior doors and above my mantel - but this is the first time I have put it on a wall. And I don't think it will be my last.

Now our living room is ready for cooler weather and a blanket at the ready. Maybe I will just have to take a little nap...

The metallic pumpkins are also from Kirkland’s, but they are no longer available online. You may be able to find them in the stores still.
