DIY-Desk-Ideas This time of year is so confusing for me. We are just getting into the swing of things for summer. In fact, we have just about one month left. At the same time, there are parts of the country who are already back in school. I can not bear to start thinking about summer yet, but I can not deny there are a few projects that are brewing in my mind for the fall. One of them is a new desk for our younger daughter's room. We bought one at the Country Living Fair that we are going to redo, but we haven't exactly decided yet what we are going to do. I have been going through some of our previous projects and I realized how many desks and desk ideas we actually have already worked on. Since many of you are already in school mode or getting ready for it, I thought desks might be on your minds as well and I would share some DIY desk ideas. One of our first desk we worked on was this Ikea hack project - Decoupaged Map Ikea Desk decoupagedmapdesk_thumb.jpg It is still in our daughter's room now and works really well for her. I will admit, the Ikea surface does take a bit of a beating so this is not an heirloom piece, but it works really well in a teen room. The desk I am sitting at right now writing this is another DIY project, Vintage Door Desks. It existed in my mind for so long. I knew I wanted to mix the modern legs with the rustic top, it was just getting the sizing right. By cutting the doors down, we have two perfect desks that we work at every day. The cut off pieces were used to make our DIY Vintage Door Beverage Bar. DIYDesksfromOldDoors_thumb.png My favorite desk by far is also one of my favorite DIY projects, our easy built-in desk. It is still perfectly functional for us and we love it. Our kids use it for homework and for projects and I often use it as an extra surface to work on. Best of all, it has made a previously unusable space very functional for us. EasyDIYBuiltInDeskTutorial_thumb.png Also in our office is our Ikea hack craft table. While not a traditional desk, it is a workhorse for us for projects. I love the height and I am considering working at the higher height from time to time. Sitting at a desk for hours at a time is just not good for this body. IkeaHackCraftTableCraftPaintStorage_thumb.png I can't wait to get started on our next desk project and share it with you soon!
